Micromax Canvas 4 A210 Hands on Review
Micromax has grown in leaps and bound over these years, leaving behind all its competitors in terms of technology, production and variety. After the success of Canvas 2 and Canvas HD, Micromax has gifted its users with Micromax Canvas 4 with the most appropriate tagline “life can be endless”. Hats off to the research and development team of Micromax to bridge the gap that was setting it apart from so called brand models. With the launch of Canvas 4, Micromax lifted up the major barrier of Internal Phone memory which had been a thorn in the flesh for all its users.
To start with the packaging, Micromax has come up with a new packaging for Canvas 4. A Compaq plastic box just about the size of the device showcasing the elegant gadget.
Micromax Canvas 4 is clocked at 1.2 GHz and powered by Cortex-A7 Quad Core processor along with MTK 6589 chipset, which makes it similar to the Canvas HD A116. The most amazing thing about this smart phone is the 8.99MM anodized aluminum body with a super slim finish, giving it an elegant look and the most superior build quality. This is definitely the best looking and the most solid feeling smartphone Micromax has ever developed till date.
The device comes with a 5.0 inches 294 ppi pixel density HD display. The viewing angles are pretty much good and the color reproduction is quite crisp and vibrant. But the most important feature added to this phablet is the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen protection. This phone comes up with the capacitive touch keys hidden below the screen and only become visible and lit up after being pressed, unlike the Canvas HD where all the capacitive touch buttons are always visible.
Micomax has worked much on the software and features of Canvas 4. This phone comes up with the ‘look away’ feature that pauses a video being played as soon as you look away from the screen, giving the users the ease of watching any video. Apart from this feature Micromax has come up with a new ‘Blow Air’ unlock, where a user can unlock the phone by just blowing air on the screen. Both of these features have made Micromax to stand up tall and complete with other branded phones.
Micromax Canvas 4 A210 comes with a rear 13MP camera along with Sony sensor. There is a LED flash which is by far the brightest flash in all Micromax phones available till date. A secondary microphone is also available for noise cancellation. The 13MP camera is capable of 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. The picture quality is quite nice and crisp with more detailing and there are various modes of shooting like touch to focus, automatic smile shot, face detection and panorama shot. Canvas 4 has a 5MP front camera which really has a superior picture quality for video conference and chat, as the front camera can shoot at 720p.
We are quite impressed with the software interface of the device, though there is not much of changes made to the stock ROM. The device comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with OTA support, which means a user can update or upgrade the software over the air without paying a visit to service centers. The device has many new features like the pop up browser which can be pinned and used for multi-tasking. Another nice addition to its software interface is the video player which comes with various features like preview video without pausing the video being watched, swipe to increase or decrease the volume and brightness by a simple swipe on the screen.
The device comes with an added feature of answering the call just by bringing the phone close to your ears, using the censor. The same censor also enables direct dialing to numbers of the contacts, a user is viewing. The music menu also has got new look, thus providing an ease to open various music files.
Gaming on Canvas 4 is quite smooth but an occasional lag here and there in high end games with several background running applications. Games like NFS, Asphalt, Shadowgun and Contact Killer 2 run very smoothly without any lag.
Overall it’s quite a robust and nice device. At a price of INR 18000, this is the best looking and performing gadget available in the market. With the added inbuilt memory feature and 13MP camera, this device becomes worthy of the money it costs. EviewsReviews gives the device a rating of 3.8 stars out of 5.
