Review of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 P5200
The Samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1, launched in July 2013 is available in 10.1 inch, 8 inch and 7 inch sizes and features a dual-core Intel atom chipset clocked at 1.6 GHz. The body is quite glossy with a brown metallic coating on the edges. The tablet is very thin, light and easy to carry which can be its unique selling point in recent future. The surround speakers are placed on the either sides of the tablet, making the sound quality very clear and loud. There is a 3.5mm audio jack placed on the upper left corner of the device and on the top there is the Power button along with volume rockers, Micro SD card slot and the Infra-Red remote to control your television. On the bottom of the device, you can find the micro USB port, which can be used for multiple functions like charging, connecting USB keyboard and etc.
On the front of the tablet we have a Home button along with the capacitive back and menu buttons. The display screen is TFT with a resolution of 1280 x 800 which is standard and not high definition. The display screen certainly has very wide viewing angles, making it view-able from various possible angle.
Samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1 comes with 16 and 32 GB models with 1 GB of RAM. The OS for the device is Android v4.2.2, the latest one with all the feature making it a great user friendly interface. Samsung, as always has customized the icons of the drop down notification panel with a single window function, which actually looks nice and compact. The tablet comes with all the stock applications of Android and Samsung with a small addition of a full version of Polaris Office suite which can be more than helpful while working on the go. The processor is quite standard, not that great but not that bad also. However the graphics rendering on the device is very ordinary as compared to other tablets of the same range.
The tablet has OTG support so that you can easily plug in USB keyboard or game controllers or even a flash drive by the help of an OTG cable. Web Browsing on the device is quite smooth and fast with features like zooming and scrolling work just fine, without any issues. Video streaming also works flawless and is quite vibrant though the display is not HD so we cannot complain much on the quality of the video playback. Gaming is also quite nice but there are some occasional lags to be seen when high end graphic games are played on the device.
Samsung Galaxy tab 3 10.1 features a 3.15 MP rear camera for taking photos or shooting videos with 720p resolution at 30 frames per second and 1.3 MP front camera for video calling and conference calls. The image quality of the camera is actually quite good, which is always expected with the kind of hardware Samsung provides. The camera has other basic modes like the panorama mode and the smile shot mode. There is no touch to focus feature, so you have to be content with the fixed focus.
The Samsung galaxy Tab 3 10.1 comes with a monster 6800 mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery which quite justifies 40 hours of talk time, as announced by the company. The battery life is really impressive for this tablet and performs exceedingly well.
Overall, the device is nice but average in terms of performance, camera and features. One thing is for sure that this device will work for Samsung brand loyal users.
